There is an exceptional salt that makes Koreans proud - Premium Mineral Bay Salt LO by Haeyeareum, a sea salt produced in the mudflats of the West Sea. That particular region of mudflats contains high amounts of natural minerals, such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, etc., with optimal sunshine and wind speed levels to produce premium quality salt.

Bay salt is harvested using traditional methods to obtain salt crystals by evaporating seawater using only the sun and wind.ย  It is said the flavor of bay salt deepens with each increasing year it is aged. It repeatedly absorbs and expels the surrounding moisture, and during the latter process, it also discharges magnesium, the source of the bitter taste of salt.ย  Following many years of aging, the unique sweet taste of bay salt comes to life. The salt is harvested from Docho Island in Sinan, Jeollanam-do, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Korea, and through natural ways, the seawater content has been evaporated down to only 5%.ย  That means the salt is almost moistureless, and itโ€™s soft and dry enough to crunch in your mouth.ย  With no added artificial coloring or additives, it gives off a subtle taste and scent and has the natural milky color of raw salt.ย  And that sweet aftertaste?ย  Thatโ€™s due to the abundance of minerals it contains.
